In early 2006, hair stylist Travis George chose opening his first Salon, over working, literally, on the water, traveling around the Pacific.

He was offered a job as assistant cruise director with P&O, but turned it down to open his first Salon, Travis George Hair at the Piazza, Homebush Bay. As Travis also happens to be a qualified PADI scuba instructor, saying no to the cruising life shows amazing dedication to his new business pursuit!

His description of a career that includes cutting hair in London, Vancouver and the Caribbean among other places during 12 years of travel to 32 countries shows Travis is living proof that the highly portable profession of hairdressing can sustain you anywhere in the world and allow enviable freedom.

He has also cut hair at laid back beach hostels, styled it backstage at adrenalin-filled fashion awards, and for fashion shoots. He has competed in state and national hair competitions, reaching state finalist level.

Opening Travis George Hair at The Piazza was an exciting first chapter that brought together the rewards of 23 years in the industry and many diverse cultural experiences, to a new clientele.  Opening his second Salon, Broadway Hair Lounge, was the icing on the cake!

Originally from Melbourne, Travis has worked in award-winning salons in Australia and overseas, where he collected a range of both styling and business skills from some of the best in the business. He credits many people for giving him the confidence to start his first salon.

Travis is fortunate enough to have worked at high class salons around the world, with amazing stylists and business people, many of them becoming mentors in different ways. It is the lessons learned from these people that he has applied to Broadway Hair Lounge and Travis George Hair.

International influences aside, Travis asserts that Australia’s hairdressers are the best trained in the world, with the highest standards.

Travis believes that clients build a special trust with their hairdresser, which over time can become friendship. Knowing something about a client’s lifestyle plays a big part in creating a personalised hairstyle. Travis loves that aspect of the job.
